iPhone owners are 167 times more at risk of being hacked than those who use other brands, phone case maker Case24.com has found.
The study, based on monthly Google search data, was focused on finding how many people in Britain were looking for information on how to hack different apps or phone brands.
“The total search volume for iPhones was a whopping 10,040. That’s significantly higher than Samsung, who came in second place with 700 searches,” reports goodtoknow.co.uk.
Smartphones from LG, Nokia and Sony only had around 100 each searches a month. Sony has only 50 searches.
Smartphone users in Britain were also interested in how to hack someone’s Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp accounts. About 12,310 users were interested in finding out how to hack someone’s Instagram account each month.
Behind Instagram with 7,390 and 7,100 searches were Snapchat and WhatsApp accounts.
Other apps at risk included Twitter (1,790), Facebook messenger (1,750), and Gmail (1,510).
The study found that Instagram account is 16 times more likely to be hacked than a Netflix account.
Apps that posed a lower risk of being hacked were Facebook (1,120), Amazon (1,070) and Netflix right at the bottom (750).
