In September last year, German automaker Volkwagen unveiled ID.3, its first all-electric vehicle, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Since then, the company has outlined extensive plans for the electric vehicle (EV) market, which include investing Euro 33 billion in e-mobility by 2024 to develop the ID range.

While the first batch of ID.3 cars are expected to be rolled out in Europe this summer, the company’s plans for the Indian market are still nascent.

It is, however, looking at India as a potential market for its all-electric concept SUV (sports utility vehicle) ID.CROZZ, Steffen Knapp, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, told TechCircle in a recent conversation on the sidelines of Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi. The company, he said, is currently researching the Indian market for EV readiness, consumer sentiments and policy environment.
