Amazon Small Business Days (SBD), which took place from July 2 to 4, saw orders from 20,300 pin codes as demand from non-metros drives business on the ecommerce platform.
About 68% of the 84,000 sellers who received an order were from non-metro cities.
The number of sellers who grossed over Rs 1 crore in sales grew by 6X over the previous SBD event held in December 2020 while 7,500 sellers received their highest single day sale – an increase of over 2.8X over the last event, according to a statement.

“As India tries to get back on track post the impact of the COVID-19 second wave, we are prioritizing our efforts to help small businesses, artisans, weavers, women entrepreneurs and small local offline shops to bounce back from the economic disruption,” Pranav Bhasin, director, MSME and selling partner experience at Amazon India said in the statement.
During the event over 750 sellers who are part of Amazon’s Launchpad programme for promoting startups and emerging brands received orders which included protective face masks, topping sauces and dry fruit mix.
Overall, the top selling products during the event ranged from food processors, organic honey, laptop tables to jackfruit flour and onion based hair-care products.

One of its flagship sale events, Amazon Prime Day sale, is lined up for July 26 and will be closely watched for the nature of discounts and sales recorded by the larger sellers on the platform in the light of amendments to the Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules 2020.
